Message from the CHRD Chair

“We have the honour of welcoming renowned experts from across Canada to join us to cover all pillars of research approaches and a range of topics.”

Dr. Andrew Halayko

Chair, CHRD Steering Committee, Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba

We can’t wait to welcome you to the 22 nd annual Child Health Research Days (CHRD) in October! This year’s theme is From Cells to Society: Child Health Through Science, Culture, and Community and it will cover a spectrum of topics that affect child health and relating these to their impact throughout the human life cycle. We cover prenatal, infancy, early childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, examining biological, social, and cultural effectors. This year’s conference will be at the Manitoba Museum which will allow us to reflect on the land and history where we live, work, and grow.

We have the honour of welcoming renowned experts from across Canada to join us to cover all pillars of research approaches and a range of topics including, the impacts of screen time on young people, newborn screening for metabolic errors, intra uterine therapies, the impacts of a national dental plan, Indigenous ways of healing and childbirth, and systemic barriers to health care equity.

We’ll also hear from CHRIM’s Research Advisory Council for Youth as they share their reflections on being part of research, what it means to them, and how researchers can engage youth as stakeholders in their research programs.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, the incredible CHRD Steering Committee, and everyone at CHRIM, I want to thank you for your participation and enthusiasm for this exciting event. This conference is only a small reflection of how hard our entire of researchers, labs, and teams work each day.

Thank you again for joining us, I look forward to seeing you there!

Dr. Andrew Halayko, Chair, CHRD Steering Committee
